Janani Suraksha Yojana was launched by the honorable Prime Minister of our country, Mr. Narendra Modi on 12 April 2005 for the newborn babies and pregnant women of the country. Under this scheme, the government will provide financial help for the pregnant women of our country so that they do have not to face any problems. Under the scheme Janani Suraksha Yojna, there are all tests of pregnant women such as blood tests, ultrasound, urine tests, etc. will be done free of cost. The whole procedure of delivery and all tests of the baby will be done free of cost. Only women living below the poverty line are eligible and can get benefits through this scheme. Here we are going to tell you about the amount of assistance given under Janani Suraksha Yojana. Under Janani Suraksha Yojana amount information, are given as follows –

Rural areas (Low Performing States (LPS))

Pregnant women living in rural areas who are living their lives below the poverty line, those women will be provided an assistance of Rs 1400 from the government at the time of delivery and ASHA will be given an assistance amount of Rs 600, which will encourage delivery. 300 for (for promotion) and 300 rupees are given for providing complete service after the delivery of the woman.

Urban areas (Low Performing States (LPS))

A pregnant woman living in urban areas will be given an amount of Rs 1000 after the government delivery. And along with this, Asha will be given an assistance amount of Rs 400, in which 200 for the delivery incentive (for promotion) and 200 rupees for providing complete service after the delivery of the woman.

Rural areas (High Performing States (HPS))

A pregnant woman living in rural areas will be provided an assistance amount of Rs 700 by the government at the time of delivery and Rs 600 will be given to ASHA.

Urban areas (High Performing States (HPS))

The pregnant woman living in urban areas will be given Rs 600 by the government at the time of delivery. And along with this Asha will be given an assistance amount of Rs 400.

Objectives of Janani Suraksha Yojana Scheme

The main aim of Janani Suraksha Yojana is to provide all the facilities to the pregnant women which they must get during pregnancy. Women from economically weaker sections are not able to take care of their babies and themselves fully due to their poor family status. So they have to face many problems. Women belonged to rural areas are not able to get all benefits of medical facilities, all health-related facilities will be given to women under this scheme. Through this, the death rate of both the child and the mother will decrease as they both will get all facilities such as proper vaccination, nutrition, and medical treatment under this scheme.

Features of Janani Suraksha Yojana

  • Janani Suraksha Yojana is a scheme which is sponsored 100% by central government.

  • Pregnant women who give birth to a baby at home with the help of Anganwadi or Asha workers these beneficiary will get an amount of five hundred rupees.
  • After the delivery of the child, information regarding vaccination for five years and free vaccination will be shared.
  • Women who register under Janani Suraksha Yojana will be given at least two check-ups free of cost. In addition, Asha and the Anganwadi workers will also be assisted in the post-delivery period with related services.

Eligibility criteria for Janani Suraksha Yojana

  • All the medical and financial helps for the pregnant women will be provided by the government under Janani Suraksha Yojana In order to give birth to only two children.
  • If a pregnant woman gives birth to a stillborn (dead) baby, then premature or mid-term birth of live child will be treated as a valid case. Woman can get money in this condition.
  • Under this scheme, financial help will be provided by government to pregnant women only when they are nineteen years and above.
  • Enrolled under Janani Suraksha Yojana, woman have to go to government hospitals or any private hospital which is selected by the government.
  • Benefits will be provided only to these women who are considered below the poverty line.
